I seriously doubt I will ever update this daily, but I'll try to do so periodically, anyway.
Just back from an engineering conference at Branson, MO. The conference was about transportation engineering for Missouri and an executive from Silver Dollar City noted in one of the sessions that it was the construction of major roads that " helped produce the economic boom" they have experienced over the last 30 years. I find it ironic that what originally attracted people to the area was its rural nature and quaint culture - features that, to me, no longer exist and were destroyed by the people as they visited in hoards, arriving on improved roads, and creating a new culture based almost exclusively on consumption and spectacle.
